Nursery - Mrs Otton
Hello and welcome to our Nursery class page. I will have the pleasure of teaching your child as they begin their journey through school, hopefully having lots of fun along the way.
I started working at Crindau Primary as a Teaching Assistant in 1999 and have worked with all year groups. This inspired me to become a teacher. I completed my teacher training in 2016 and have been teaching in Nursery for the last three years. It is my favourite year group because there is an excuse to play and get messy!
When I am not in school I like to watch Newport Rugby play at Rodney Parade. I also like to travel.
Mrs Taylor, Teaching Assistant, has worked at Crindau for around twelve years. She has worked in the Foundation Phase classes and worked with children in small groups to improve their skills.
When she is not in school, Mrs Taylor likes to do exercise classes such as Poundfit.
In Nursery, uniform is not compulsory but if you would like your child to wear uniform they will need:
white polo shirt
red jumper, sweatshirt or cardigan
black trousers or skirt
Please make sure that clothing is labelled with their name, especially jumpers and coats. Your child will get dirty because they have access to paint, glue, mud and lots of other messy things!
We no longer send paper information so you will need to download the Schoop app onto you phone. Select Nursery and Whole School so that you receive the appropriate information. I send a weekly Schoop on a Friday updating you with what the children have been doing during the week and with a Weekly Workout for the children to do at home. There could also be other messages during the week.
During the Nursery session the children will have a choice of resources available to play with. They will do small group, whole class and individual tasks. The children also have milk.
Our Summer Term project will be Tokyo 2021. We will be reading The Gingerbread Man and Frog Olympics.
We have been busy at home making Easter Hats.
I had the very tricky job of looking at all these beautiful Easter hats and deciding who deserves one of my chocolate Easter eggs. It goes without saying - you all do. I'll have an Easter egg waiting for you back in Nursery after the Easter holidays. Well done my super stars! Mrs Ward
