Year 1/2 - Mrs Richards/Mrs Brown

Welcome to Year 1/2

Hello! Welcome to our class page. Here is some information about our class that we hope you find useful.

Teacher- Mrs Richards

A bit about me.... I have taught all year groups in the Foundation Phase from Nursery to Year 2. I love Outdoor Learning alongside Well-being and Mindfulness and being creative! I'm really looking forward to getting to know the children this year and helping them to grow and learn in a nurturing environment, while having lots of fun!

My email address is

Please email with any questions or information you need. I will also be outside at the end of the day on Mondays and Tuesdays if you need to speak to me.

Teacher- Mrs Brown

A bit about me....Hello! I have taught in both KS2 and Foundation Phase for the last 10 years.  I am on the Senior Leadership Team in Crindau and am in charge of skills across the curriculum, which means I get very excited about English, maths and technology (boring I know).  I absolutely love teaching and see it as a job from the heart.  It goes without saying that the best part about my job is working with children.  They are the heart and soul of everything we do in our class.  I teach your children on Wednesday afternoon, Thursday all day and Friday all day. If you need anything please see me at any time.

Teaching Assistant- Mrs Tubb

A bit about me...I have worked here for 15 years with experience across the Foundation Phase.  I am a Mum of three children who have all attended Crindau Primary School.  I enjoy dancing and teach a dance University club after school.  I love seeing children progress and reach their potential.  I am a particular fan of English and currently studying a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing.

General Information

Here is some general information about our class:

Book Bags

When we start to read in groups the children will take their book bags home on a Wednesday and a Friday. The book will be familiar to them as they will have read it in class with a teacher. They are bringing it home to practice reading it to you. Please take the time to listen to the book with them and return the book bags on the days above so they can be changed for a new book.

Morning Snack and Water Bottles

This year we are not able to provide the children with a school water bottle becuase of the current situation. Please can you make sure your child has a drink bottle that they can use throughout the day, they are welcome to bring in an extra drink for lunchtime if they are bringing home packed lunch.

We are able to provide a carton of milk at Morning Snack time to those that would like one. Please can you make sure that your child has a healthy snack to eat in the morning, ideally a piece of fruit, if not fruit then a healthy snack option. They find it a long morning if they have no snack to eat!

We are not collecting the usual £1 per week at the moment and will let you know when this starts again.

P.E./ Outdoor Learning

The children have 3 outdoor sessions during the day, these will be a mixture of free play and focussed activities. We are not able to have an indoor PE session at the moment so games and fitness will be included in our outdoor learning sessions.

We have worked hard to learn the story of the Gingerbread Man. Watch the video below to see us performing The Gingerbread Man using our storymap!

This Term our topic is Japan. Find out what we will be learning about below.

This term we designed and made our own boats for the GB sailing team. We tested our boats to make sure they could carry two people without sinking. Some of us tried sushi and wasabi peas. We all cut pancakes into halves and quarters too.
