Letters and Sounds

At Crindau Primary School, we teach the children phonics through 'Letters and Sounds'. Letters and Sounds is broken up into 6 phases. In Year 1, we consolidate our understanding of Phase 2, 3 and 4 in the Autumn term before moving on to Phase 5 in the Spring term. By the end of Year 1, we hope to have all the children confident at reading and spelling simple words using the first 5 phases.
