Foundation Phase - Nursery to Year 2. Phase Leader, Mrs Gibson
Crindau Primary School Foundation Phase
Hello, My name is Mrs Gibson and I am the Foundaation Phase Leader at Crindau Primary School.
I have taught at Crindau for over 20 years and have got to know many children and families over this time.
Foundation Phase is for children aged 3 - 7 and consists of
Nursery (3-4 year olds) taught by Mrs Otton. There are 2 sessions 9.15 - 11.45 and 12.45 - 3.15. Children are allocated one of these sessions
Reception (4-5 year olds) 2 classes taught by Mr Brown and Mrs Smith
Year 1 (5-6 year olds) taught by Mrs Jones
Year 1 and 2 mixed class (5-7 year olds) taught by Mrs Richards and Mrs Brown (after half term)
Year 2 class (6-7 year olds) taught by Mrs Gibson
LC1 (4-7 year olds with additional learing needs) taught by Miss Jones
There are also teaching assistants in every Foundation Phase class to support the children's learning and well-being.
Each morning I am on the yard near the Ailesbury Street entrance. If you have any queries or I can help any way please do not hesitate to ask.

Celebrating Achievements
At Crindau we have a strong emphasis on celebrating achievements and excellent behaviour.
Each week we celebrate the following:
Star awards - every week each class teacher chooses 2 children who have excelled with learning or behaviour in the classroom
Attendance Ted is given to the Foundation Phase class with the best attendance each week.
Class teachers follow a 'Whale Done' behaviour policy. Children move their whales and receive stickers, notes home and whale done certificates for excellent behaviour in class
Please keep your children's certificates safe. When they have 4 they can bring them to me and they will receive a badge in a special assembly at the end of each term.
Foundation Phase Projects
This year our projects are;
Autumn term 1 - Me in 2020
Autumn term 2 - The box of delights
Spring Term - Chocolate Cake (based on a poem by Michael Rosen)
Summer Term - Tokyo Olympics 2021
Within each project class teachers encourage children to come up with their own ideas to develop their own learning so the projects can evolve in different ways from class to class
Jolly Phonics
At Crindau we use Jolly Phonics to support our teaching of reading and spelling.
Below are some links to videos to support this when you are helping your child at home.
