At Crindau Primary School, we teach the children phonics through 'Letters and Sounds'. Letters and Sounds is broken up into 6 phases. In Year 3, we consolidate our understanding of Phase 2, 3, 4 and 5 sounds before moving on to No Nonsense Spelling when they are ready. 

Children will have new spellings every week posted on our Google Classroom page.  Please practise the spelling pattern at home with them. We will complete activities in class to help them learn the patterns and give opportunities for them to use the words into their work.

In addition to the weekly spelling lists, pupils will need to practice reading and writing high frequency words, common exception words and statutory words for Year 3.
