Year 6 - Miss Jenkins
Croeso i dosbarth 6J
Croeso! Welcome to the class page for 6J.
After what has been a challenging couple of years for us all, I am full of optimism that this year is going to be great.
For those of you that may not be familiar with me, I first started working in Crindau in 2016 and have been lucky enough to be a class teacher in Year 3, Year 1/2 and Year 4. I have also previously taught Year 6 in another primary school in Newport.
Over the next school year, we will be exploring a range of topics, developing our skills and preparing for Year 7 and life beyond primary school.
I am really looking forward to getting to know all of the children this year.
The topic for the Autumn Term is titled 'Curious about Cultures'. At the end of last term, the children each researched, presented and voted for a country to be our focus. The winning country was Australia so this term we will be learning all about Australian history, wildlife, food and other areas.
The children will be continuing to contribute their ideas of what they would like to learn about to influence the areas we look at next.
Each week the children will be given spellings on a Friday and will be tested the following Friday in school. The children should be practising these at home. You can find the spelling lists and strategies to help on our Google Classroom.
The children will also be given homework on a Friday on Google Classroom. Again, they will have until the following Friday to complete this. Each piece of homework completed will result in a dojo.
In class, your children are given the opportunity to earn class dojos as a result of good behaviour, readiness to learn and helping others among other things. These are totalled at the end of each week resulting in one Dojo champion who receives a certificate. These dojos are also added up weekly and can be used to earn individual and class rewards. These rewards have been decided as a class and are displayed in the classroom, ask your children about what rewards they have earned
